da betcris: Aaron Ramsey and Arsenal have made progress in discussions regarding a new deal and an agreement is not too far away, according to Football.London.
What’s the word?
da premier bet: While Arsenal fight towards stability on the field after widespread changes over the course of the past few months continued battles are taking place behind the scenes – with a major cause for speculation being Aaron Ramsey’s contract situation.
The Wales international has entered the final year of his deal at the Emirates Stadium and, as it stands, will be able to leave at the end of the season if no new deal is agreed – raising the chances of an Alexis Sanchez-like departure in the January window.
Arsenal and Unai Emery remain keen on tying Ramsey down to fresh terms but are yet to find an agreement with the 27-year-old, although Football.London reporter Charles Watts understands that progress has been made – and remains confident that a deal is around the corner.
What was said?
“In terms of Ramsey, there is still no agreement. But I did hear from someone I trust last week that things were moving in the right direction and that he thought a new deal was not far away – which is a positive.
“I think he will eventually sign, but Arsenal really have given themselves big issues by letting themselves get into this position again.”
End of the saga?
Arsenal fans will be desperate to ensure this saga is brought to an end one way or another and signing Ramsey down for the future would provide a major boost to the squad, especially as he stands as the Gunners’ longest-serving player in the team.

However, the North London side need to ensure they avoid this sort of situation in the future after seeing similar situations emerge last year with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil – the latter of which only ended speculation on his future a few months before his previous deal expired.
It is certainly a cause for concern for Arsenal, who remain adamant that they are no longer required to sell their star players like they previously had with Robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas, both of whom ended up with Premier League rivals, but this sort of situation takes the control away from the club.
