Noel Whelan has told Football Insider that 17-year-old Leeds United talent Mateusz Bogusz has a “big part” to play for the Championship club next season, and it should be an exciting update for many Whites fans who have already been raving about him.
What did he say?
Well, the teenager has been one of the Yorkshire outfit’s standout men in pre-season so far, scoring a brilliant goal in the 2-1 win against the Western Sydney Wanderers and earning a 7/10 rating from the Yorkshire Evening Post in the process.
Now Whelan claims that while the youngster has impressed in friendly matches, he has the ability to make the step up in England’s second tier in 2019/20.
The 44-year-old told Football Insider: “He’s been a midfield player who’s been quietly coming through the ranks and showing extreme quality. He’s a player who can step up to the mark in the Championship this season.
“He’s a real prospect for the future and I think he might have a big part to play this campaign.”

Exciting times
They certainly are.
Bogusz may be yet to make his competitive debut for Leeds, but he is already showing glimpses that he is ready to make that step considering the technique and quality he has shown on the ball in recent weeks.
Many Whites supporters on Twitter have certainly been impressed with what they have seen from the young Pole recently, with some tipping him for the top.
Those fans in particular will be especially pleased should the 17-year-old make the step up from August onwards, and there will be a hope that he can follow in the footsteps of the likes of Jack Clarke and Jamie Shackleton who made the jump so successfully last term – the former even earned a move to Tottenham Hotspur while the latter made 24 appearances.

The Yorkshire club could do with another attacking midfield player to compete with the likes of Mateusz Klich and Tyler Roberts now Samu Saiz has left on a permanent basis, and Bogusz may just be the man to do it.
A big season awaits Leeds United, but it could be a huge one for one of their biggest young talents, too.
