da fezbet: Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has stated that Petr Cech’s arrival in North London could be the final ingredient the club needs to win the Premier League title.
da brdice: The veteran goalkeeper fell behind Thibaut Courtois in the Chelsea pecking order last season and has since moved to the Gunners in search of regular first-team football.
Ramsey feels that Cech’s experience and stature can only be a positive thing for Arsenal, who will look to push forward and put up a consistent title challenge in 2015-16.
“He is a great signing and has been there and done it with Chelsea,” The Mirror quote Ramsey as saying.
“He has a lot of experience in the big games which will help us, he’s a top-class goalkeeper and still has a lot of qualities and can offer a lot to this team.
“I can only see good things coming from him and him having an effect on this team.
“We have a great squad at the moment as long as we keep everyone fit… our form in the second half of last season was good, but it’s what you need throughout the whole season to compete.
“Hopefully we can do that and get off to a good start this season and put ourselves in a great position early on.
“We know we have the players and the quality to hurt other teams and get points. There is no question about our ability but it’s about whether we can keep everyone fit and I am fairly confident we can.
“Chelsea were top mainly all the way through, they hardly slipped up and that is what we have to try to do.”
The Emirates Stadium outfit put together an excellent run of form in the second half of last season but in the end inconsistency in the campaign’s early days cost them top spot.
Goalkeeper has been a position that has been perceived as a weak link for the Gunners for some years, with Cech set to take over from David Ospina between the sticks next term.
