da apostaganha: Lee Bowyer has spoken about Lyle Taylor’s transfer situation ahead of the winter window, as reported by London News Online.
What did he say?
The Addicks manager has admitted that there will be plenty of interest in Taylor when January comes around.
Before sustaining an injury that kept him out for 13 matches, the Montserrat international had amassed five goals and an assist in eight games.
While Bowyer has admitted that keeping the 29-year-old could be a challenge, he has insisted it isn’t a certainty he will leave.
The Charlton manager was quoted in London News Online as saying: “Do I think there will be other clubs coming in for him in January? 1,000,000%.
“It depends how much we want to keep him – that’s the big question – not if anyone is going to come in for him.”
“It will be the same as Karlan [Grant] last season [who joined Huddersfield in January]. If a Premier League club comes in then it becomes even more difficult to hold on to him. That’s just the nature of the game.”
Level of ambition
Whether or not Taylor leaves could end up being an indicator of the ambition that Charlton have to excel in the Championship this campaign.
If they are able to keep the 29-year-old at the Valley, then it would be a definite sign that East Street Investments are hoping to take the club to their highest possible heights, presuming they are in by that time.
It would be easy for the Addicks to cash in on the striker, but he would be difficult to replace, even with Macauley Bonne in the squad, so it would be a massive boost for Bowyer’s side if he stays put.

Taylor may have been out injured for a prolonged period of time but he’s still bagged five goals and claimed a solitary assist in eight games.
