Sheffield Wednesday could be closing in on a new signing after reports surprisingly emerged during last night’s game.
The Owls were defeated 2-1 by Wigan Athletic as Garry Monk’s side succumbed to a fifth defeat in six matches with Jamal Lowe firing home a 90th-minute winner.
But just before half-time news broke on social media that the club were on the verge of clinching a new winger called Alessio Da Cruz.
Tuttomercatoweb claim the Parma man is due at Hillsborough for a medical today ahead of a potential loan switch.
Further fuel was added to the fire with the 23-year-old uploading an Instagram story with the location tagged as Manchester, England…
And upon going on his profile, it appears as if the son of Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri is following him, which raises a compelling case about the potential of him signing as Att Chansiri must be in the know or is simply a fan of Serie A side Parma.
Monk was asked about the rumours in his post-match press conference, to which he replied: “I don’t deal with speculation. “I don’t name names. I just let the club do their work, let them get on with it.”
We’ll have to wait and see if Da Cruz becomes a Wednesday player, but for now, the signs are encouraging.
In the Serie B this season at Ascoli Calcio, the Dutch winger has scored five goals and provided six assists, but has also seen red on three occasions, per Transfermarkt.
While in other news, fans have been comparing this Monk favourite to legendary Brazillian defender Roberto Carlos this week…
