da betano casino: Everton have tabled a £39m bid for Benfica forward Raul Jimenez, according to Portuguese publication Record.
What’s the story?
da dobrowin: The Merseyside outfit have signed five players already this summer, but it seems as though they want more.
Record claims that a bid of £39m has been put forward, but Benfica are holding out for £44m.
It is believed that a Chinese Super League club offered that big-money offer in January, but they were turned down.
Now, though, it seems that Benfica are willing to sell but only for the right price.
Is Jimenez worth £44m?
In today’s market, almost every single player is overpriced, and on this occasion, it would not make sense for Everton to splash a hefty figure on the Mexico international.
Last season, the 26-year-old struggled to maintain a spot in the team as he started just six league matches.
He came off the bench in a further 13, and also made six appearances in the Champions League, but in only one of them did he start.
In 30 outings in all competitions, Jimenez scored 11 goals and produced one assist.
Everton have already spent more than £85m on new recruits this summer, and one of those arrivals was striker Sandro Ramirez from Malaga.
Clearly, manager Ronald Koeman wants to bring in another forward player, but paying close to £50m is too much for Jimenez.
