da roleta: Questioning just how much Jurgen Klopp has improved Liverpool in comparison to predecessor Brendan Rodgers appears to be a motif that emerges from every defeat the Reds suffer this season.
da marjack bet: Still, while there are some obvious frailties within his squad, there’s little doubt the charismatic German coach has had a profound impact on the club during his first full season in charge, even if they remain a work in progress.
One of the major changes in the team’s setup this season has been the introduction of Sadio Mane alongside Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho to create a wonderfully devastating attack trident, though the Senegalese’s arrival on Merseyside represents much more than that.
Liverpool’s transfer committee has failed to wholly convince, but the former Southampton star has proved to be a good signing and one capable of taking the club to the next level. So, taken him as read, we recently asked fans online who else to arrive over the course of last summer has improved the team the most.
With that in mind, here are the results.
3. Marko Grujic
Surprisingly, midfielder Marko Grujic has beaten the likes of Loris Karius and Ragnar Klavan to make it into the top three summer signings, despite his minimal playing time. The Serbian arrived from Red Star Belgrade in the summer, but has struggled to impose himself in a central midfield berth amid a wealth of competition at Anfield.
Still, the 20-year-old was clearly brought into the club for the future and, despite a few injury problems, looks to have had made an impression with the support.
2. Joel Matip
Defensive frailty has been as intrinsic to Klopp’s project at Anfield thus far as the infamous high pressing, though Cameroonian Joel Matip has at least gone some way to helping rectify that. Signed on a free transfer from Schalke over the course of the summer, Matip has provided a physical presence in the backline and a sturdy partner for Dejan Lovren, as well as an ability to bring the ball out of defence.
Though there’s still a lot more work required to improve this defence, Matip is a good start.
1. Georginio Wijnaldum
When Liverpool splashed out £25m to bring in a man who was relegated with Newcastle United, eyebrows were rather unsurprisingly raised. During his first season on these shores, Georginio Wijnaldum impressed at times amid a turbulent campaign for the Toon Army, but never on a truly consistent basis.
So, that sort of figure looked mightily expensive for the midfielder, though he’s become a major part of Klopp’s side. His pulsating energy and ability to bring the ball forward from deep in midfield have endeared him to the Kop it seems, with he and Adam Lallana proving to be the fulcrums of Liverpool’s high press.
