da winzada777: Fulham boss Martin Jol is hopeful that club captain Brede Hangeland will extend his stay at Craven Cottage in the next fortnight.
da marjack bet: The Norwegian, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season, was linked with a move to QPR last month, with his long-term future with the Cottagers in some doubt.
Jol has made little secret of his desire to keep hold of the 31-year-old, but no official agreements have been made with the centre-back.
But, the Dutchman hinted that Hangeland’s contractual situation is being resolved and that an announcement could made in the coming weeks:
“We are talking to quite a few players (about contract extensions).” He is quoted by the Evening Standard.
“He (Hangeland) is one of them. It’s about him. But we are talking so it’s a positive thing and he wants to stay here.
“That’s good so there is no news now, but hopefully (there will be) in the next couple of weeks.”
Hangeland has become a cult hero amongst Fulham’s fans during his spell in West London, after producing a number of fine displays to help maintain the club’s Premier League status.
As well as the defender, new deals are expected for veteran duo Giorgos Karagounis and Mark Schwarzer.
