With the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino to compete with, game time for Dominic Solanke at Liverpool has been extremely limited.
As a result, the 21-year-old has been linked with a move away from Anfield in January, though manager Jurgen Klopp does not appear to be keen on the idea of his young centre-forward leaving the club.
The Breakdown
According to the Daily Mail, while Liverpool have been keeping tabs on other strikers such as Benfica’s Luka Jovic who is currently on loan at Frankfurt, Klopp remains happy with Solanke’s level in training and is willing to give him a chance in the first team.
Considering that, staying at Anfield until at least the end of the campaign is a decision Solanke could easily make.
If the England international can take any opportunity given to him, he could soon find himself as Firmino’s deputy with Daniel Sturridge having struggled to entirely convince Klopp since the German arrived at the Merseyside club.
Whether that would be enough for Solanke, though, remains to be seen. Watching his age-mates Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson tearing it up in Germany will have the Liverpool man thinking there is no reason why he cannot have a starring role at a strong European team like his compatriots.
All things considered, a loan move for Solanke would probably be in everyone’s best interest with Klopp unable to offer the Chelsea youth product any guarantees.
