Manchester United have announced that they have agreed a fee and personal terms to sign Japanese star Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund.
It has seemed like a matter of when and not if the 23-year-old would move to Old Trafford and the club is believed to be ready to splash £12million on the attacking midfielder, which potentially could rise to £17 million with add-ons.
All that is needed for Kagawa to become a United player is for a medical to be passed and a work permit to be granted, which are thought to be formalities.
“Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has agreed terms with both Borussia Dortmund and Shinji Kagawa for his transfer to the club,” said a United statement.
“The deal is subject only to the player medical and obtaining a UK work permit. These conditions are anticipated to be completed by the end of June.
“Further details will be announced in due course,” it concluded.
Kagawa is expected to be the first of a number of new faces signing for Sir Alex Ferguson’s men this summer, as the Red Devils to look to strengthen to win back their Premier League title in 2012-13.
