da fezbet: Leeds United centre-back Gaetano Berardi has an uncertain future at Elland Road past the end of this current season, and the recent suspension to fixtures raises some further doubt.
What’s he said?
da bet esporte: The Whites occupy top spot in the Championship and also hold a seven-point advantage to the playoff positions, so there’s a very good chance that they’ll end a 16-year wait for top-flight football in west Yorkshire.
That’s providing football resumes in time for the season to be finished, which provides question marks over those out of contract this summer, like Berardi.
There is a possibility that his contract expires before Leeds complete the current campaign, and Phil Hay has given his insight in a recent Q&A on The Athletic.
He said:
Blurred lines
It’s the first time this season that there has been a suggestion that United boss Marcelo Bielsa does indeed want to keep hold of the Swiss defender.
Berardi has mainly been a bit-part fringe player under the Argentine this term, featuring in only 17 league games, but he has contributed to a clean sheet in 64.7% of those, which suggests he’s been quite an underrated asset for them.
For away day veterans only: Can you name all of these defunct stadiums?
The 31-year-old has been part of the setup at Elland Road since 2014 when he was signed by ex-caretaker Neil Redfearn and chairman Massimo Cellino, and is clearly one to know the Bielsa system inside out as he’s been a mainstay since his appointment in the summer of 2018.
It, therefore, would be a wise decision to keep him aboard for next season, even if they do indeed earn that elusive promotion. Even more so now, as Hay mentions, with the uncertainty over when football will resume.

The last thing Leeds need in their quest to secure the title is not having the services of one of their first-team players. It could be majorly detrimental to their chances if they start losing players because of the ongoing situation off the field.
Berardi being handed an extension soon would solve all eventualities and leave Bielsa with one less headache this summer.
