da prosport bet: According to reports in the Daily Mirror, West Ham United are ready to offload winger Robert Snodgrass just six months after signing him in a £10m deal from Hull City.
da leao: The 29-year-old moved to the London Stadium during the January transfer window following an impressive first half of the Premier League campaign for the newly-promoted side, and his performances obviously caught the attention of Irons boss Slaven Bilic.
However, things haven’t worked out for the Scotland international and after failing to make an impact, he could now be on his way out of the club this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is carefully piecing together his squad for a promotion push next season following a disappointing 13th-place finish last time out in their first Championship campaign.
The former Hull chief will be looking for quality players in order to ensure that Villa return to the top flight, and the wide-man certainly fits into that category.
Here are three reasons Aston Villa should go all out to sign Snodgrass…
Proven quality
While things may have not worked out for him at West Ham – albeit he has hardly been given an opportunity there – Snodgrass has shown elsewhere the consistent quality he can bring to teams.
The winger scored 13 goals in 43 Championship appearances for Leeds in the 2011/12 season, and he has racked up a significant number of goals and assists in the Premier League – and another campaign in England’s second tier with Hull – since then, while he is also a mean set-piece taker.
The 29-year-old scored seven goals and provided a further three assists in 20 top flight outings for Hull last term, and if he could replicate that form for Villa in the league below he would be hugely influential.
Worked with Bruce before
While suggestions that he could be sold already this summer perhaps mean he hasn’t got on too well with Slaven Bilic at the London Stadium, Snodgrass worked with Steve Bruce at Hull City and he may be keen to link up with a manager that trusts and supports him again.
Bruce will know the 29-year-old’s strengths and weaknesses, and he may even be willing to give him something of a free role if he could convince the winger to drop down to the Championship next season.
An investment
It is sure that West Ham will look to recoup most of the £10m they paid for Snodgrass in January if they are to sell the Scotland international in the coming weeks, and that could prove to be a problem for Villa unless they sell players first.
However, a deal for the winger would be an investment in a way, because as well as almost being guaranteed to make a huge impact in the Championship, the 29-year-old would also be ready to make the step up to the Premier League with the club this time next year if they win the promotion they are aiming for.
