Since Chinese conglomerate Fousn took ownership of Wolves back in 2016, they have seen the Midlands club comfortably make their way out of the Championship and become a regular Premier League side.
In the process, the Old Gold have brought in a number of players over the past few years that have helped the team get to where they are now.
One player that has joined Wolves in recent years that has been a successful recruit is midfielder Leander Dendoncker, who originally made the move to Molineux back in the 2018 summer transfer window on loan from Belgian club Anderlecht before signing on a permanent basis a year later for a fee of £12m.
Overall, the 26-year-old has made 143 appearances for the Midlands club across all competitions, chipping in with 11 goals and three assists along the way.
Having played in a number of midfield positions and as a centre-back on numerous occasions during his time at Molineux, this shows how his versatility has made him a useful player for the club.
The 26-year-old’s previous appearance for Bruno Lage’s side once again showed just how useful he can be for Wolves by scoring a goal and racking up an overall match rating of 7.5/10 from SofaScore in their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Back in December 2019, shortly after joining Wolves on loan, Transfermarkt had Dendoncker’s market value listed as £13.5m, whereas it now stands at £27m, highlighting a significant increase based on what he’s delivered for the club on the pitch since his arrival.
This shows just what a great bit of business it was from Fosun to sign the midfield gem, who has been described as a “big character” by Lage, on loan and then secure him on a permanent basis.
Moving forward, with fellow Wolves midfielder Joao Moutinho set to have his current contract at the club set to expire at the end of the summer, his potential exit could pave the way for Dendoncker, who is currently picking up a weekly wage of £75k-per-week according to Salary Sport, to fully cement a place in Lage’s starting XI for the future.
Also, with his own contract set to run out in the summer of 2023, it could be worth the hierarchy at Wolves approaching him and his representatives to see if the Belgian would be willing to extend his stay at Molineux and pledge his future to the club.
